Please remember this is the last week of school before Spring Break.  School will resume on Monday April 8.  It is also the last blog you will receive until Sunday April 7.

JUNIOR PALIO
Junior Palio for students in Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Kindergarten will take place on Wednesday March 20 from 8:30-10:00 a.m.  Be sure to bring your cameras, it is truly a photo opportunity.

SPRING BREAK CAMP REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN. 
Roycemore will be offering two Spring Break Camps this year.  From March 25-29, we will be offering a Basketball Camp led by our Upper School Basketball coach, Louis Jones.  This camp is for students in Grades Fourth through Eighth.

From April 1-5, we will be offering our traditional Spring Break Camp for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. For this camp you may sign up for one day or all week.

AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
You can sign your children up for all the spring session after-school enrichment activities. The information was attached to the email accompanying the blog. They will begin the week of April 8.

ONE BOOK, READ TOGETHER
The teachers in Grades 1-4 have organized a fun evening to celebrate family reading.  We are asking each family to read Pie by Sarah Weeks.  On April 17, we will gather together to participate in a book discussion, engage in fun activities, and even enjoy some pie!  We are hoping that all of you will join us.

On Friday, March 15, students in Grades 1 through 12 will present Palio, one of Roycemore’s longest running traditions. Palio is our annual showcase of physical education, athletic, tumbling, and dance skills. There will be a ½ day of school, with all students leaving Roycemore at 11:30am and returning for the performances in the evening. Please mark your calendars now and join us for this long-standing annual event. Lower School Palio runs from 6-7:15pm and Middle and Upper School Palio runs from 7:30-9pm. Our Extended Day Program will be open until 6:00 for those of you who need childcare.

    1.   THEME WEEK: Our theme this year was Architecture, with an emphasis on the Chicago Skyscraper.  This is alway a fun-filled week with a lot of deep learning as the students engage in some of the steps that architects go through. From the beginning concept to the finished "Griffin City".

Thank you all for attending conferences last week.  This is when where we schedule a specific time to meet and talk about your children, but please remember we are here for you any time.  If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to come in and talk to the teachers and/or me. Our partnership is ongoing all year!

RE-ENROLLMENT
Calling all current families!  Now is the time to complete your re-enrollment forms, if you haven't done so already.  All current families have been sent re-enrollment information and forms should have been submitted by March 1st in order to secure your spot for next year.  Please be aware that discounts are available for families who take advantage of our Advanced Payment options.   For questions about re-enrollment, please contact Tanise Robnett

Answer: All of us!
Roycemore School will change over from fluorescent light bulbs to LED light bulbs. This will help us save approximately 242,149 kWh in energy annually!  We need all hands on deck for this quick community change over, with jobs for all ages!  Please join students, parents, faculty and friends as we take another step toward making our building more environmentally and economically efficient.

  1. One of the signature programs in Middle School is P3, Personal Passion Project.  One of the Middle Schoolers, Julia, decided that her passion was to assist in the Junior Kindergarten room. She is a magnet for the children. They just love her and she is learning so much.


  2.The Second Graders are learning about people who have made a difference in our world. One of the people is Helen Keller.  To understand how difficult her life was being both deaf and blind, they did experiments navigating the world of Lower School with their eyes and ears covered.
