CONFERENCES 
Conferences will take place on Wednesday, February 27, Thursday, February 28, and Friday March 1.  You should have received a link to sign up from sign-up genius. You will receive a link to your child's progress report on Tuesday.  Please look for it.

RE-ENROLLMENT
Calling all current families!  Now is the time to complete your re-enrollment forms.  All current families have been sent re-enrollment information and forms must be submitted by March 1st in order to secure your spot for next year.  Please be aware that discounts are available for families who take advantage of our Advanced Payment options.   For questions about re-enrollment, please contact Tanise Robnett trobnett@roycemoreschool.org.

SPRING BREAK CAMP REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN. 
Roycemore will be offering two Spring Break Camps this year.  From March 25-29, we will be offering a Basketball Camp led by our Upper School Basketball coach, Louis Jones.  This camp is for students in Grades Fourth through Eighth.
From April 1-5, we will be offering our traditional Spring Break Camp for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. For this camp you may sign up for one day or all week.

THEME WEEK:is coming March 4-8.  Our theme this year is Architecture, with an emphasis on the Chicago Skyscraper.  We are starting to collect the following recycled materials.  Please bring them to my office.  Thank you!

1.  There is always something new to do in our Extended Day Program.  Mrs. Beaugrand painted a target for a paper airplane competition.  It was so much fun.  

2. Friday was the day that we have been in school for 100 days.  The Junior Kindergarten and the Kindergarten celebrated by doing so many 100 day activities including a museum.  See more pictures at the end of the blog.

Sprout will meet Tuesday February 26 in the LS Art Room 118 from 3:15-5:15.

 A REMINDER: Please remember that Roycemore Lower School is a nut/peanut-free environment.  Please remember this when you send in birthday treats and snacks for your children.  There are many other allergies, specific to individual children, so please check with your classroom teacher before sending in treats.   1. The Middle School 5th and 6th Graders helped the Pre-kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten children celebrate Valentine's Day by coming to their classrooms and helping them create valentines for their friends and families.  They also used Valentine's Day to have a math/writing activity which they loved.

2.  As part of our ecological learning, the Third and Fourth Graders will be learning about the worm composting so they can be part of the program. Mrs. Bixby came to the classroom to show them what to do.

 1The Junior Kindergarten cracked a brown egg and a white egg, after talking about how they are all different colors and they all look different on the outside but are all the same on the inside.  A great start to celebrating "Kindness Week" and Black History Month. 


2. Our preschool is so enriched. Besides the exciting projects they do, they practice writing in their journals. They learn their letter sounds and if they are ready to read, they read.  While all the time, they think they are playing! 


  3.  The Lunar New Year celebration was so much fun. Lower School students and their Griffin buddies played Chinese games, learned calligraphy, did a craft and heard stories.  They also saw a presentation on how Lunar New Year is celebrated in China.
  
 4.  Our Third Graders in Art collaborated with the Upper School AP Chemistry class on a Color Lab. Through a simple experiment, the students learned which colors are used to make the colors in their art class markers.

LUNAR NEW YEAR All Roycemore students will celebrate the Lunar New Year, the year of the pig, on Tuesday, February 5th! Our children will be with their Upper School Griffin Buddy to celebrate. This year, students will enjoy a presentation, art project and story time.  Should be a fun time for all!

   1.  The Lower School has a math block where skills are taught for four days a week and on on the fifth real life math projects and games are created and played to show our children that math is not just paper and pencil.

2.  The Third and Fourth Graders are studying space.  They are creating planets and researching information about different aspects of space. 
  
 3.  This month is Black History Month.  You will see what they children are studying all over Lower School.
