What a Week This Was! It was so much fun and so much learning
I have posted a lot of pictures from each event, but there will be more at the end of the blog.

First I want to thank all the parents and faculty that worked so hard for
APRIL IN PARIS, our Scholarship Dinner.
It was a truly beautiful evening and your generosity is greatly appreciated.

 STAND AGAINST RACISM
On Wednesday at 1:30pm, all Lower School students  joined the rest of the school  to line up on Ridge Ave. with the larger Evanston community. "Stand Against Racism is a signature campaign of YWCA USA to build community among those who work for racial justice and to raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism in our communities.

JESSE WHITE TUMBLERS were at Roycemore on Thursday to entertain our entire school.  It was be a wonderful experience for all of our children, especially since tumbling is one of our signature programs.  Of course at recess our kids had to show off their tumbling skills.

CELEBRATION OF DEDICATION AND EXCELLENCE Friday, April 26 10:00AM. This was an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful educators that interact with your children every day. Some of them reached milestones and were particularly honored.

In Lower School
Justin Bailey 5 years
Ziggy Zapart 10 years
We share Ziggy with the whole school!

And of course
Dea Beaugrand 45 years
Jessi Wunder 45 years

Wednesday, May 1 6:30 p.m. is the LOWER SCHOOL MUSICAL, 101 DALMATIANS.
First through Fourth Grade parents, you should have received an email from Julie Herrick about your children's costumes. It was sent at least two weeks ago.
Please have your children in the classrooms at 6:00.

Upper School National Honor Society
GOODWILL DRIVE
The Upper School NHS chapter is doing a Goodwill Drive as their second semester group project. Just bring your donations (could be anything from clothes to house items) to school and put them in boxes that are situated around Roycemore or bring directly to any Goodwill location and fill out a form writing "Roycemore School" on it. Roycemore is competing to win by bringing the most items and having a Blackhawks player come to our school! Any donations are appreciated.  Here is the google doc link to the flyer we made - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AAGTGJV1rGZCx05kxzbR7YTFehylmAsH/view?ts=5cbe05bb

THE GARAGE!!
Lower School is so lucky to have the garage in which you can park and walk in your children out of the elements. The problem with it, is there are not enough parking places for everyone.
When spaces are filled, some of you are parking in the driving lanes.  This causes backup and people cannot pull out of their parking spaces.  Please go around until a space opens or drop your children off at the double yellow doors.

At pick-up please park in the garage and come into the building. You also may park upstairs at any time.  Again if there is not a space, please go around until one opens up.  This usually is no more than five minutes.  If you double park, the garage becomes clogged and everyone has difficulty.  Thank you in advance for being considerate of everyone.
THANK YOU!!!!

They then counted and added the numbers, the teacher even wrote the algorithm on the board, and then they jumped and called out each number with each jump. They thought they were playing, but also learning that 4 + 5 = 9.

2. The Second Graders studied different human rights activists or people who have made a difference in our world.  Using Adobe Spark, they created posters of their favorite quote from Nelson Mandela.

  3.  Our Junior Kindergarten's enriched curriculum encourages children to love literature.  They are read to regularly of course, but they are also given the skills to enjoy books on their own. Many of the children have even begun to read.
